STEP 1: Check the deadlines for applications

• 1st of May: for non-EU students coming from countries with no Lithuanian Embassy;
• 1st of June: for non-EU students coming from countries with a Lithuanian embassy or if they are not required to hold a visa to come to Lithuania.  

STEP 2: Choose a study programme to apply for

A full list of study programmes in the Lithuanian language to apply for could be found at the catalogue. 

STEP 3: Pay the application fee

The application fee is 100 EUR per application. We will process your application and revise your documents only after the application fee is paid. The application fee is non-refundable.

The applicants must cover all bank charges. Please indicate your name, surname and payment code in payment details.

STEP 4: Prepare the required documents

The required documents are: 

• duly certified copy of a document proving previous education (a school-leaving certificate) and the marks sheet/list. Check the specific requirements for the following countries: Armenia | Azerbaijan | Bangladesh | Belarus | Cameroon | China | Denmark | Egypt | Estonia | France | Georgia | Ghana | India | International Baccalaureate | Ireland | Italy | Kazakhstan | Kyrgyzstan | Latvia | Nepal | Nigeria | Pakistan | Philippines | Poland | Russia | South Korea | Spain | Sri Lanka | Sweden | Tajikistan | Turkey | Turkmenistan | Ukraine | United Kingdom | United States | Uzbekistan.
• letter of motivation (1200-4000 characters); 
• certified copy of your passport or another identification document;
• one recent passport size photo (3 cm x 4 cm);
• copy of a document proving the payment of the application fee; 
• 1 reference letter;
• A certificate issued by Vilnius University regarding the test of Lithuanian language or document issued by other competent authority (an embassy, municipality or officially registered Lithuanian community of respectful country). 

Note 1: All documents issued in a language other than English, Lithuanian or Russian should be supplemented with an official translation. The translation is considered to be official when it is bound together with the certified true copy of the original document and is confirmed by the translator's signature. Documents issued in English, Lithuanian or Russian must be certified true copies and do not require translation.

Note 2: you must bring the original copies of your final diploma with supporting documents to the International Admissions Office first thing when you arrive to study.

STEP 5: Fill the paper-based form

The paper-based form (could be found at Annex 2) with the copies of required documents must be sent to the Admissions Office to this address:

STEP 6: Wait till we check

After we receive your application with all of the documents, your educational documents will be processed for academic verification. Final admission results will be announced within 40 days after receiving the completed Application. Successful applicants will receive acceptance letters.

If you are applying for several programmes at the same time, you can be admitted only for one programme according to your priority list and you receive only one acceptance letter. Acceptance letters or rejection notifications will be sent via email using the email address indicated at the application form. 

Admission criteria: grades, motivation letter, English proficiency test results (for programmes taught in English) and, if applicable, work experience in the field of the chosen study programme and/or the proof of fulfilled specific programme requirements (please check programme description).

STEP 7: Confirm your acceptance

Students are obliged to confirm if they accept our admission offer within 7 working days.

STEP 8: Pay the tuition fee

After you have confirmed your decision to study, you should transfer the tuition fee for the first study year of studies. The invoice will be sent by email. 

Tuition fees for the first year of studies must be paid within 15 calendar days after the day you receive an invitation to study (pre-acceptance letter). After receiving the tuition fee from you, our International Relations Office prepares the necessary documents for National visa (D) and sends them by mail to the student.

STEP 9: Get a visa to Lithuania

After receiving the necessary documents from Vilnius University, you must apply for a National visa (D) at the nearest Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania.

STEP 11: Arrange your arrival and get mentor support

If you need some practical help at the beginning of your stay in Vilnius, you can apply for a mentor at Vilnius University. A mentor - ESNbuddy is a student who will meet you at the airport or train station and will help you to get to know the University. Please contact to apply for a mentor's help.
