Development of Accounting and Auditing. Assoc. Prof. R. Subačienė. 20142016. 

Auditing service quality aspects, problems and solutions for determining control risk, conceptual framework of the statistical and nonstatistical sampling in the financial statement auditing, development of external auditor’s competence, connection of a company’s accounting policy with inherent risk of audit, possibilities and limits of analysis methods in the process of auditing, audit quality improvement and public supervisory system changes in Lithuania were investigated.

Factors affecting revenues from the main taxes in Lithuania were defined.

Projects Supported by University Budget

The Evaluation of Lithuania’s Business Changes Influencing Factors, for Seeking Competitive Advantage in the Integrated Market. Prof. M. Kučinskienė. 2014–2015.

Performed research analysed the usefulness of integrated approach towards evaluation of organizations’ performance, focusing on the quality of public services and led to conclusion that it is necessary to have an integrated approach towards the public services’ quality improvement. Activities, related with insurance, considered investigation on business enterprise risk management, widely recognized as an interdisciplinary object of analysis. In the context of the activity of tourism, research was orientated on how tourism could be developed, involving disabled people and promoting their possibilities in protected areas.

Research on the Changes in Role of Management Information Systems in Society Development.  Prof. R. Skyrius. 2013–2015.

Special attention is paid to the area of complex information needs, encompassing business intelligence, analytics, insight development and decision support. Active research is also performed in the areas of strategic planning of information systems and lessons learned in project management activities. 

A chapter of the book Business Intelligence, Strategies and Ethics, published by Nova Publishers of Hauppauge, NY, USA, has been written by prof. Rimvydas Skyrius and aimed at the contemporary dimensions of business intelligence developments. Other directions of research have been in the areas of Website usability evaluation, advanced data analysis using data mining techniques, opportunities and challenges brought by Big Data, and integration of heterogeneous information.

Financial Stability Problems of Finance and Credit Sector. Prof. A. Paškevičius. 2012–2016.

The research results were presented in monographs, dissertations and articles.

The object of the research is the asset-based policy implementation model applicable to Lithuania. The main tasks are to describe basic parameters of the model, its functioning principles, and expected results. In order to assess factors that affect stability of credit unions, the study using the economical - statistical methods was performed.

The system of domestic municipalities in Lithuania should be orientated to domestic population’s needs by effectively using budget of domestic municipality. The similarities and differences of income and expenses of municipalities during 20072012, the factors that led to changes and correlation analysis of budget expenses of district municipality and main social - economical factors were analysed.

Research Projects Supported by University Budget

Research of Managers Competencies in the Enterprises of Lithuania and Belarus: A Comparative Analysis. Prof. D. Diskienė. 2013–2015.

The main aim of the research was to carry on a comparative analysis of managers competencies in the enterprises of Lithuania and Belarus. For this purpose research survey allowing to reveal managerial competency in the context of management functions realization was prepared. Research was carried on in the business companies in both countries and managers of different management levels took part in it. On the background of survey results the differences and similiarities in managerial competencies were revealed. Provided research results will be presented at the joint monography prepared by researchers of the Department of Management of Vilnius University and Belarus State University of Economics.

The Study of Quality Management Models and Tools Application in the Organizations of Public and Private Sectors. Prof.  J. Ruževičius. 2011–2015.

The purpose of this research was to develop quality management methodology in pursuance of Lithuanian economy’s faster integration via quality tools into European and World economical area.

The following targets were addressed: lean audit methodology development; insights on organisations activities quality development; and science administration quality conceptualization.

Innovative Marketing in the Context of Global Business and Global Consumption. Prof. S. Urbonavičius. 2014–2015. 

The department has started a new research topic “Consumer behaviour tendencies in a dynamic environment” in 2015. Because of this, numerous studies have not been able to reach the publication stage within this year, and remain in the process of development. However, some findings have been presented at conferences and published.

National Research Projects

Lithuanian Research Council. Research project: The Impact of Teenager to Parents Decision to Buy Innovative from Consumers Perspective Products (MIP-017/2015). 2015–2017.

The goal of the project is to determine adolescent’s impact on parents’ decision to purchase innovative goods, and to draw the typology of innovative goods (from the consumer perspective) depending on the adolescent’s impact on parents’ purchase decisions. Expert power of adolescents is grounded by involvement into digital technologies and their ability to find information. Their impact on parents is affected by other leverages, such as communication in family, or emotional aspects.

Analysis and Modelling of Socio-Economic Alterations under Globalization. Prof. L. Čekanavičius. 2014–2015.

Research of economic, social and demographic challenges facing Lithuania and Europe was continued in 2015. Specific targeted topics include assessent of the influence of demographic shifts on changes in economic growth, as well as on investment fund flows in the EU, evaluation of social and economic conseguences of the minimum wage rise in Lithuania, development of framework for assessment of housing price misalignments from the fundamental prices in the Baltic States, etc.

Mixed Economy in Lithuania in the Context of European Integration and Globalization. Prof. R. Lazutka. 2011–2015.

The problems of economic aspects of transformations in post-Soviet area were explored. The economic policies in industries and sectors were examined. Measures of prevention of cartels and enforcement of free competition were examined. The peculiarities of innovation in the context of global economic core-periphery hierarchy were analysed.

Income Distributon Factors: Labour, Capital and Welfare State (INCOME). 20152017. 

The project is aimed at analysing how income of the owners of production factors change with economic growth, how it is disributed among households of different demographic and economic structure, what is the impact of state institutions on population income and its differenciation.

A Legal and Administrative Model of Labour Relations and Social Insurance (New Social Model). 2014–2015.

The New Social Model is under development in line with Priority 4 “Strengthening of Administrative Capacities and Improvement of Public Administration” of 2007–2013 Operational Programme for the Development of Human Resources, implementation measure VP1-4.3-VRM-02-V “Promotion of Public Policy Reforms”.  The project activities are co-financed by the European Union structural funds.

International Research Projects

Pilot Project: Developing a Common Methodology for Reference Budgets. European Comission. Coordinator - Antwerpen University. 20142015.

The European Reference Budgets Network is a pilot project, funded by the European Commission, aimed at the development of a methodology for constructing high-quality cross-nationally comparable reference budgets in all EU Member States. Reference Budgets are defined as baskets of goods and services that represent acceptable standards of living.

The project is also aimed at establishing a network with the capacity to provide intellectual and practical support to the design and development of complete reference budgets in all EU Member States, in line with the common methodology.

A Network of Independent Experts assists the European Commission in monitoring and evaluating the situation with regard to social protection, poverty and social exclusion and the policies that are relevant in this respect in the Member States and Accession countries. The Network Core Team produces synthesis reports, bringing together the main results of the analysis across countries.
