Extra Curricular Activities VU
Art Groups
The Culture Center of Vilnius University unites 15 art groups - choirs, orchestras. theaters, various ensembles with more than 600 members. Groups organize or participate in more than 150 different events throughout Lithuania or abroad. The Cultural Center inivites all members of the community to join - students, employees or even alumni. Activities in art groups are free of charge. The folkloric ensembles' "Uosinta" in the VU Kaunas Faculty repertoire is based on material collected by the students themselves from folklore expeditions in the districts of Varėna (Dzūkija), Biržų (Aukštaitija) and Plungė (Žemaitija) and works from the folklore archive. The academic singing studio "Veni Gaudare" also invites you to join - their repertoire mainly consists of contemporary works by Lithuanian and foreign composers, folk song developments. Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy also invites you to join art collectives - folk music ensemble "Saulė", mixed choir "Studium" and girls' choir "Pavasaris". More information can be found here (in Lithuanian only).
Cultural Activities
The Vilnius University Culture Center creates and supports the cultural and educational space of the University community. It provides students with opportunities for artistic self-expression and creative personality development. The Center invites community members not only to join art groups, but also attend various organized events, exhibitions or educational activities. For more information, click here.
Societies, Clubs, Associations
In the large community of Vilnius University, many different societies, clubs and individual projects have been created over time. They invite you not only to actively spend your free time, but also to deepen your knowledge of your field or acquire new skills. Sports Teams and Clubs
Students are welcome at the University's Health and Sports Center! There are four gyms in the premises of Health and Sport Centre located in three different parts of Vilnius (Saulėtekis av. 2, Saulėtekis av. 26 and Čiurlionis st. 21). In the bases, for a small fee, students can train individually (exercise in the gym, run in the stadium) or attend group classes, play team games. For more information, please click here.
At the Šiauliai Academy, conditions are created for students to achieve higher mastery in sports and for everyone who wants to spend their free time actively in games, aerobics and gyms. More information about sports teams and other opportunities can be found here (in Lithuanian only).
Visiting Museums and the Architectural Ensemble
The Museum of Vilnius University has several departments that can be visited by all members of the VU community. We invite you to visit the architectural ensemble of the University, St. John's Church bell tower, Adomas Mickevičius Museum and Ideas Observatory. Visiting is not free of charge, but there are exeptions. For more information, click here.
Visiting the Botanical Garden
Vilnius University Botanical Garden has branches in Kairenai and Vingis and invites members of the VU community to visit. VU students can visit the deparments of the Botanical Garden for free. The Botanical Garden is open not only for walks or picnics, but you can also book an education, excursion or use the servises of the stud farm. For more information, click here.
The botanical garden of Vilnius University's Šiauliai Academy, where over 4,600 species and varieties of plants are grown, also invites visitors. In close cooperation with Šiauliai city municipality, infrastructure for integrated nature learning is developed in the garden, STEAM programs are implemented, cognitive and educational activities, plant exhibitions and qualification improvement courses are organized. Visiting the Observatory
The VU Observatory oganizes day and night excursions during which you can look under the telescope of the observatory. Conferences and other events can also be organized at the Observatory or you can just come to relax. More information about the Observatory can be found here.
Volunteering
The non-academic departments of Vilnius University invite students to contribute their time and abilities to the development of the University of desired competencies during volunteering. Departments from VU Museum to the Botanical Garden are waiting for your help. More information is available here.
VU Šiauliai Academy students have the opportunity to volunteer not only in the University's units, such as the STEAM Center or the Botanical Garden, but also in the institutions and organizations of VU ŠA's social partners or the Regional Development Institute of VU ŠA.
