Ita Inkerytė (1919–?) was born in Miroslavas town, Alytus county (possible parents – Irsius and Berta Apinoriūtė, mentioned in the lists of Alytus Jews of 1934). She studied at Alytus Jewish Primary School. In 1933, she was admitted to Marijampolė Jewish Gymnasium, where she was studying in an advanced mathematics class, completing it in 1935. Most likely, Ita liked mathematics and had an aptitude for this subject (scoring 4 in the gymnasium certificate) because in the autumn of the same year she entered the Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Nature of Vytautas Magnus University. In September 1939, she submitted a request to the rector of Vytautas Magnus University asking to issue a student’s record book, as the first one burned down during a fire at home. Based on the documents preserved in the archives of Vilnius University, it can be assumed that Ita was transferred to Vilnius University in 1940 and was expelled from it on 19 September 1941 on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, under the authority of the National Socialists. No information is known about the further fate of Ita Inkerytė.
