Rachelė Abelsonaitė (1920–?) was born in Kelmė (father – Jankelis Abelsonas). In 1936-1938, she studied the private Jewish girls' gymnasium Javnė in Telšiai. In September 1939, she applied to enter the History Department of the Faculty of Humanities of Vytautas Magnus University. In July of the following year, she requested to be transferred to the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine. As the faculty was being moved to Vilnius at that time, Rachelė repeatedly submitted her application to Vilnius University. The latter application bears the inscriptions “daughter of a rabbi” and “the request is denied”. No information on the further fate of Rachelė Abelsonaitė is known.
