Anzelma Keturakytė Vaišnorienė (father – Juozas) was born in Stungiai village, Žagarė parish, Joniškis county, in 1928. She graduated from Žagarė Gymnasium and in July 1947 submitted an application to the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University. In August of the same year, she submitted a second application, stating she wished to be transferred to the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences “under the advice of a doctor”. In 1948, a writing on the said document was inscribed stating “a reprimand is issued for misrepresenting the facts in the form”. According to Anzelma, in the end of 1948, she was repeatedly summoned by the commission of mandates because her parents had been deported and the issue of her further studies had to be addressed. Finally, after completing two years at the University, Anzelma went to a meeting of the said commission and was told that “children of kulaks were not welcome at the University”. On 11 June 1949, under the order of the Rector, Anzelma Keturakytė was removed from the student list. In 1950, she lodged a request to recover her school-leaving certificate. An archival certificate was issued in 1998, certifying that Anzelma started studying at Vilnius University in 1947 and was removed from the student list in 1949.
