Ona Gražytė (1925–2005) was born in Mičionys village, Utena county, in the family of Jonas Gražis and Ona Kazlauskaitė. She had three brothers (Kazys, Pranas, Vytautas) and a sister (Zosė). She attended Mičionys Primary School. She completed the fifth and sixth form in Svėdasai Primary School. In 1939, she entered Anykščiai Gymnasium. After successfully completing it in 1945, she submitted an application to study pharmacy at Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine. On 15 April 1947, she was removed from the university student list “due to misrepresenting personal data”. As she herself wrote in yet another application for admission to Vilnius University in 1947, she was wrongly accused of allegedly knowing that her brother had not joined the army and was hiding at home. Her request was not granted. In 1956, she asked the university to recover the remaining personal documents.
