Albinas Nemūra (1925–?) was born in Šunskai village, Marijampolė parish and county, in the family of tailor Jonas Nemūra and Ieva (Jieva) Nemūrienė. In 1939, he enrolled in Marijampolė Boys’ Gymnasium. After graduating from it in 1944, he studied at Marijampolė Teachers’ Seminary. In June 1945, he received a diploma, enabling him to work as a primary school teacher. He was assigned to work at Vilnius Secondary School No. 27. In July 1945, he applied to the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University, but due to reasons unknown, in August of the same year, he changed his application, expressing a wish to study chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry. On 22 November 1945, the university management received a warning from the People’s Commissariat for Education, noting that Albinas, together with Paulius Normantas, had left his teacher position and was obliged to continue teaching, otherwise he would be expelled. Most likely, he did not return to work to the school because both students “dropped out”. Later, he returned to studies: in the personal file of Albinas in the archives of Vilnius University, there were records certifying he took exams in 1946. In 1947, Albinas Nemūra applied for the finance-credit specialisation at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of Vilnius University. Soon after the start of the studies, he was arrested and deported to the Magadan Oblast (1948–1956) for belonging to the anti-Soviet Iron Wolf organisation. Having returned in August 1956, he submitted an application to continue studies, starting from the third year, on a part-time basis. In 1960, he graduated from the university and obtained the qualification of economist.
