Felicija Požėlaitė was born in Steigvilai village, Žeimelis rural district, Šiauliai county. From 1933 to 1937 she went to a primary school in Kalveliškiai/ės, from 1937 to 1939 was a pupil at the primary school of Pasvalys, later went to Pasvalys gymnasium, and in 1945 became a student at the Forestry Faculty of Vilnius University. Her studies were terminated by her mother’s death as she went back to her native place to help her father. In 1946, Felicija was admitted to the university again, only this time it was the Medical Faculty. However, this time, too, she was fated not to complete her studies: in 1949, Felicija was deported to Irkutsk region. She had plans to study in exile and wrote to Vilnius University regarding her documents. She was released in 1957 and returned to Lithuania.
