Rebbeka Kemachaitė was born on 19 April 1922 in Vilnius, into the family of public servants Jokov and Sora Rivka. In 1940, Rebbeka was admitted to the seventh form of the private gymnasium of Ch. Epstein and I. Speizer in Vilnius with instruction in Polish and with accelerated teaching of the humanities (although in her curriculum vitae she indicated she had been studying there since 1932). That same year, she passed her high school graduation examinations and tried to enter the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University to study pharmacology, but her attempt was unsuccessful. But she was admitted to the Philology Department of the Faculty of Humanities of Vilnius University and studied there until 19 September 1941, when she was expelled from Vilnius University on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis. Nothing is known about her further fate or that of her family.
