Pranas Lašinis was born in Liepiškiai/ės village, Šiaulėnai rural district, Šiauliai county. In 1930, he finished a primary school in Monkiškės. He then worked in farms and later as a messenger in the company of Šiauliai railways. He continued his education externally by studying independently and taking examinations. In this way he finished six forms. At the same time he did office and accounting work for the company of Šiauliai railways. He was burning with a desire to study and in 1944 went to Šiauliai gymnasium for adults, which he finished in 1947. In the same year he became a student of the medical faculty of Vilnius University. His studies, however, were disrupted by Soviet repression: in 1949, during the operation of mass deportation ‘The Surf’, Pranas Lašinis was deported to Irkutsk region. He died in exile.
