Izaokas Libermanas was born on 3 November 1920 in Sudervė. He went to the Tarbut private coeducational gymnasium in Vilnius with instruction in Hebrew. In 1938, he passed the high school graduation examinations in the humanities. In 1940, he tried entering the Medical Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. His second attempt was successful. On 19 September 1941, he was expelled from Vilnius University on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis. Izaokas Libermanas survived the Holocaust and on 29 October 1945 collected his documents from Vilnius University in person.
