Ida Libermanaitė was born on 23 October 1918 in Miedzeshyn (Poland). It is not known when exactly Ida and her family moved to Vilnius, but in 1939 she had been studying pedagogy at Vilnius University for one semester. In 1940, she decided to change her specialisation and started German studies in the Faculty of Humanities of Vilnius University. Ida’s studies did not last long. Like many other Jewish students, on 19 September 1941 Ida was expelled from the Faculty of Humanities of Vilnius University on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis and enforced their policies. Her further fate is unknown.
