On 11 February 1921, daughter Frida was born to the Kremeris family, who lived in flat 13 on 13 Kankinių Street in Vilnius. Her father Leiba Kremeris was a forestry worker. He worked in a mill from 1940, but his income was not sufficient to support the family and to pay for his daughter’s education. Therefore, while she was still a gymnasium student, Frida earned some money by giving private lessons to younger students. In 1938, Frida finished eight forms of the private gymnasium Tuszyja, which had intensified teaching of the humanities and instruction in Hebrew, but due to financial reasons did not take the graduation examinations and applied to the Philological Department of the Faculty of Humanities of Vilnius University without a high school diploma. Presumably this was the reason why Frida’s first application was rejected. In her second application she wrote that the financial situation of her family prevented her from taking graduation examinations and was admitted to the university. Frida’s studies did not last long. Like many other Jewish students, on 19 September 1941 Frida was expelled from the Faculty of Humanities of Vilnius University on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis. Her further fate is unknown.
