Česlovas Jakubauskas was born in Tiškai village, Seda rural district, Mažeikiai county. In 1948 he completed a preparatory course and became a student at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Vilnius University, but his studies were disrupted by Soviet repression: during the mass deportation operation ‘The Surf’, Česlovas was deported to Irkutsk region. In 1952, he wrote to Vilnius University and was issued an academic referral necessary for entering a higher learning institution in Irkutsk. He was released from exile as late as in 1958.
