Student Janina Borkowska/ Borkovskaitė (1911– ?) was born in Vilnius and in 1934 finished the Ferdinand Waler Gymnasium with intensified teaching of the humanities. She became a student at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. On 30 September 1940, she was admitted to the fifth semester at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, most likely when the whole faculty was transferred from Kaunas to Vilnius. On 5 November 1941, an order was issued regarding her expulsion from the university. It was based on the order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education to expel students of Polish origin from Vilnius University. On 14 September 1945, Janina filed a request with the university asking for her personal documents and her request was fulfilled. Janina Borkowska / Barkauskaitė’s further fate is unknown.
