Student Janina Baranowska / Baranauskaitė (1922–?) was born in the town of Baranowicze in Poland. In 1935, the family moved to Vilnius. In 1939 she finished the 4th State Gymnasium for Girls where tuition was conducted in Polish; in 1940 she passed all examinations in Lithuanian-taught subjects and was granted the right to start higher education. Janina applied to study medicine at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and studied there from 11 October 1940 to 13 March 1942 when she was expelled from the university as per the order of the General Commissar for Education, to the effect that the students of Polish origin should not be allowed to attain higher education. On 22 March 1945, Janina filed a request with the university asking for her personal documents from the university archives and her request was fulfilled. Nothing is known about her further fate.
