Golda Heršmanaitė (1918–?) was born in Vilnius. In 1936, she graduated from Adam Jerzy Czartoryski State Gymnasium in Vilnius. From 1936 to 1939, she studied at the Department of Physics and Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Stephen Báthory University. In 1940, Heršmanaitė entered the Department of Physics and Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University. That same year, she was transferred to the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. On 17 May 1941, Heršmanaitė requested that the university return her birth certificate because she wanted to obtain a passport. On 19 September 1941, she was expelled from the university by the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialists. According to the Lithuanian Central State Archives, Heršmanaitė was imprisoned in Vilna Ghetto No. 1.
