Izrael Karnes (Izraelis Karnesas) (1920–?) was born in Warsaw. In 1938, he graduated from Adam Mickiewicz Gymnasium in Vilnius. On 14 January 1940, he applied for admission to the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University and was accepted as an unclassified student. In 1940, Karnesas was transferred to the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. On 19 September 1941, he was expelled from the university by the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialists. No further information on the fate of Karnesas is known.
