Basė Mendelevaitė (1922–?) was born in Eitkūnai. In 1940, she graduated from the private Bialikas Gymnasium in Šiauliai. That same year, she entered the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. On 4 May 1941, she submitted a request for issuing her documents; this underlines the fact that she had withdrawn from the university. On 19 September 1941, Mendelevaitė was expelled from the university by the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialists. According to the database “The Lithuanian Jewish Communities in the Face of the Holocaust: (Un)Forgotten Names and Fates”, Mendelevaitė was killed during the Holocaust.
