Danielius Gurvičius (1921–?) was born in Kaunas. In 1938, he graduated from the “Aušra” Kaunas State Boys’ Gymnasium. In August of that same year, he applied to study at the Medical Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Vytautas Magnus University, but his application was denied. In September, Gurvičius reapplied for admission to the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and was accepted. In 1940, he entered the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. On 19 September 1941, Gurvičius was expelled from the university by the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialists. According to the database “The Lithuanian Jewish Communities in the Face of the Holocaust: (Un)Forgotten Names and Fates”, Gurvičius was killed in the Kaunas Ninth Fort during the Holocaust.
