Pranas Sujeta (1911–2022) was born in Šventežeris, Seinai County into a family of farmers. In 1924, Sujeta graduated from a local school, and in the autumn of that year, he entered Seinai Žiburys Gymnasium in Lazdijai. However, he didn’t ever finish the gymnasium; instead, he did various chores on the farm. On 3 May 1933, he joined the army, served there until September 1934, and became a junior non-commissioned officer in military aviation. After his service in the army, Sujeta settled in Kaunas, where he started his three-year studies in decorating. Later, Sujeta joined the two-year courses for teachers of painting and decorating, graduating in 1940. From 1941 to 1942, he studied at Vilnius Gymnasium for Adults; while studying there, Sujeta worked as a teacher at the First State Secondary School of Crafts in Vilnius. In 1941, he applied for the position of a hospitant at the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. His application was successful. In 1942, Sujeta applied for and was admitted to studies at the Medical Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. According to his relatives, Sujeta had not completed his last year of studies because he was exiled. According to the database “Lithuanians in Siberia”, in 1946, Sujeta was exiled to Komi Region. He worked as a doctor in a hard labour camp there. In 1953, Sujeta was allowed to return from exile but continued to work in Komi Region and would only visit Lithuania for holidays. In 1963, he was rehabilitated. In 1967, Sujeta returned to Vilnius and attempted to find his study records at the university, but back then, he could not find any.
