Galminaitė-Dovydaitienė Laimutė (1925-2004) was born in Tryškiai, Šiauliai county (father – Benediktas Galminas). At the age of four, she moved with her parents to Šiauliai. In 1936, she entered Šiauliai Girls’ Gymnasium, graduating in 1941. The same year, she began her studies at the Commerce Institute. She continued her studies in the institution until its closure in 1943. Later, she served in various establishments, completing an accounting apprenticeship. In 1945, she applied for admission to the third year of the Department of Finance and Credit of the Faculty of Economics at Vilnius University. She argued her request for admission beyond the first year by attaching documents from the Commerce Institute. Although she was admitted, she was unable to study due to illness and was removed from the lists. In 1946, she reapplied for admission to the Faculty of Economics to study economics of trading enterprises and farms. Laimutė was accepted but studied until 1949. Her family testifies that Laimutė was prevented from taking the final exams and defending her thesis because of her mother’s activities in the Riflemen’s Union. In 1954, Vilnius University issued Laimutė with an academic certificate for the courses taken.
