Volfsonaitė Tamara (1916-?) entered the private co-educational gymnasium of Ch. Epstein and J. Speizer in Vilnius in 1930 and graduated in 1935. According to Tamara’s own account, from 1936 to 1939 she was continuously “registering at Stephen Báthory University”, and in January 1940 she applied for admission to the Department of Physics and Chemistry of the Faculty of Mathematics and Nature at Vytautas Magnus University. She was accepted as a free listener, and in November 1940 she applied to Vilnius University to be accepted as a student. The application was favourably received. However, she did not continue her studies for long, as she was expelled from the university on 19 September 1941 based on the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, under the authority of the National Socialists. Three years later, on 16 November 1944, she returned to the university and applied to resume her studies from the ninth semester. The document was endorsed positively with the notation “Accepted for the fifth year”. The continuation of her studies is also attested by a student registration sheet dated 13 March 1945 with the words “thesis” and an examination slip dated 25 January 1946. However, there is no further information about the studies or their completion. Her further fate is unknown.
