Professor of Vilnius University is a recognised leader in their field of research and studies in Lithuania; it is the highest teaching position at the University. The professor’s responsibilities include scientific research and/or experimental development activities as well as disseminating their results at national and international levels, research-based studies, contributing to the training of researchers and lecturers, providing expert recommendations, carrying out educational activities, educating society at large and/or disseminating achievements of culture.

Description and responsibilities of the position:

It is expected that the professor will perform scientific research of international and high national level individually (and/or in a team with other researchers) in the field of Psychophysiology and Psychoneuroendocrinology, seeking to evaluate how biological (sex, sex hormones, age) and social factors are related to cognitive abilities and emotional well-being and will publish the results of their research in scientific journals indexed in Clarivate Analytics Web of Science. The research professor will submit proposals for research project funding and will implement the projects; convene teams of researchers and lead them; teach students in Lithuanian and English (courses: Psychophysiology (II and III levels), Neurobiology (I level), Human Physiology (Supplementary studies, Biology), prepare methodological material for studies; supervise final theses of students, doctoral dissertations and/or postdoctoral interns. As an expert in their field, they will provide insights and recommendations to society, when necessary. They will maintain professional relations with their colleagues abroad and will take an active part in national and international associations in their field. They will promote neurosciences and Neurobiology, Neurobiophysics and Biophysics studies. They will implement other functions assigned to a professor related to studies, research, methodological and organisational activity, as provided for in the legal acts of the University: participate in study committees of Neurobiophysics (I level) and Neurobiology (II level).

Required qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Biomedicine, Biophysics.

Supervision of a doctoral student and/or postdoctoral intern.

Ability to teach in Lithuanian and English.

In case the candidates are of equal standing, the following will be considered an advantage:

Experience in supervision of all levels students (bachelor, master, doctoral) performing psychophysiological research investigating the relationship between sex, sex hormones, and nervous system function.

Starting at: 01 September 2025, duration of contract – 5 years.

Workload: 0,75 full-time post.

Official salary: 2940 EUR (before tax).
