The main tools and links that are really worth knowing in the online learning period:
VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT (VMA)
On Vilnius University Virtual Learning Environment (VMA) you may find study materials shared by your lecturers, such as presentations, useful literature resources, self-assessment tests, and video recordings. You may as well register for study groups, take online assessments, etc.

MICROSOFT TEAMS
Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform helping a large group of people effectively organise the learning process remotely, work and communicate in one place. Microsoft Teams will facilitate the process of replacing regular communication with remote communication. Using the platform, you can do the following:
- participate in lectures and seminars via video conferencing;
- communicate individually with your supervisor, uploading documents, continuously updating the progress of your work and sharing the material collected;
- organise work with other students to perform joint tasks and learn together;
- facilitate the learning process with Microsoft Office 365 and other gadgets on the platform (available in the Apps section).
The staff of Vilnius University Information Technology Services Centre has prepared methodological material for students on how to join subject (module) teams created by lecturers and how to participate in video lectures remotely.
If you have any questions about working on the Microsoft Teams platform, you can ask them on the special channel titled Emergency Assistance for Students created on the platform. You can join it in the following ways:

OFFICE365
Using the office365.vu.lt environment you can:
- Work on and share text documents (MS Word), presentations (MS PowerPoint) and sheets (MS Excel) with other students in real time;
- Interact with the University’s community and get all relevant information by email (MS Outlook);
- Make questionnaires needed for your research papers and other assignments (MS Forms);
- Share files related to studies (MS OneDrive and MS SharePoint);
- Create study notes individually or with classmates, annotate articles, generate ideas, and then share and edit them from any device, even when you are offline (“Microsoft OneNote”);
- Schedule teamwork, break down large tasks into smaller ones, distribute them among your team members, set deadlines and upload them to your calendar, track team progress (Microsoft Planner);
- Plan individual tasks, create to-do lists, set reminders, mark completed tasks (Microsoft “To-Do”);
- Share video (usually - screen share) recordings with other students and the University’s community (MS Stream).
The full list of Office365 applications can be found at office365.vu.lt. Students are able to use the applications online or download them to their computers for free.
Digital communication platform MS Teams will help you switch from usual communication to online. When using the platform you can:
- Participate in lectures and seminars using the video conference function;
- Interact with your research paper tutor individually by submitting and updating the working progress and sharing the collected material;
- Organise work on group assignments and study together with other students;
- Make the study process more convenient by using Office365 and other applications (they can be found at the “Apps” section).
REMOTE ACCESS TO SOFTWARE
During the pandemic, VU students and employees have been provided with an option to use specialized statistical data processing software SPSS from their virtual work spaces.
- You can access your profile via your internet browser at https://darbalaukis.vu.lt.
- Use your eID and password provided by the university and select the work space “Lankytojai (su SPSS paketu)“.
Users that cannot access through the browser (i.e. HTML client) can download VMware Horizon Client from Microsoft Store or by clicking a link that is situated at the bottom of darbalaukis.vu.lt access window. Once VMware Horizon Client has been downloaded and set up, a new server “darbalaukis.vu.lt” has to be added.
University students and employees can also remotely set up and use MATLAB and Simulink software for mathematic calculation and modelling. Address for registration and logging-in can be found here.
