The group focuses on the assessment of the impact of unequal income on the sustainable development of economy, sustainable energy and its connection with the aspects of climate change,sustainable development on the quality of life, the sustainable urban develop­ment, labour market, the implementation of gender equality, institutional change management, issues of sustainable energy and sustainable innovations.

Research group activities

Prof. Habil. Dr. R. Čiegis focuses on the topics related to the assessment of the impact of unequal income on the sustainable development of economy, the assessment of Lithuanian econo­my with regard to sustainability, the assessment of sustainable development in Lithuanian regions, the assessment of dynamics of sustainable development areas in Lithuania, investigation of regional development and management, sustainable energy and its connection with the aspects of climate change, possibilities of ecological tax reform in Lithuania, effective management of sustainable development at the enterprise level, possibilities of application of integrated indicators for the assessment of the state and regional sustainability, the impact of sustainable development on the quality of life, the sustainable urban develop­ment and the absorption of the European Union’s investments. Assoc. prof. I. Kiaušienė conducts research on labour market, the implementation of gender equality, institutional change management, sustainable development. I. Kiaušienė performs la­bour market research in the context of sustainable development and has developed an index, which not only reveals social factors determining the situation of men and women in the labour mar­ket but also assesses the impact of cultural and institutional en­vironment in the state. Prof. Dr. D. Štreimikienė and Assoc. Prof. A. Mikalauskienė investigate issues of sustainable energy. Assoc. Prof. R. Pušinaitė-Gelgotė investigates how to assess and how to encourage businesses to install more sustainable innovations to achieve the goals of circular economy.

 

Proposal

The group provides services within their topics, thus we can create an effective and comprehensive national and regional sustainable development assessment methodology and perform sustainability assessment of economic-social development in Lithuania and its regions. The group aim at assessing interfaces between the economic and social disparities in population and sustainable regional development. We can determine the impact of demographic aging on sustainable development as well as examine the relationships between the institutional equity and sustainable development policy effectiveness. Additionally, we prepare recommendations for the reduction of economic and social disparities among population in the context of sustainable regional development. We evaluate how to encourage businesses to implement more harmonized innovations in order to reach circular economy goals. Now we actively involved in the process of searching partners for HORIZON 2020.

Research outcomes

Group leader R. Čiegis has prepared over ten individual and collective monographies and scientific studies in the area of sustainable development, published more than ten articles in publications included in the list of main publications of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), more than fifty articles in periodic and continuous scientific publications registered in other international data bases of scientific information. I. Kiaušienė has published more than 20 articles assessing the situation of men and women in the labour market, highlighting the importance of gender equality for the sustainable development. She is a co-author of the monograph “Gender Economics”. Presently she is a member of a group of scientists Winnet Baltic Sea Region, Winnet BSR. She is a co-author of the monograph “Gender Economics”. Currently she is a researcher of the team Winnet Baltic Sea Region.
