This programme is designed for graduates of Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline who wish to contribute to the development of drugs in the pharmaceutical industry. The study areas include research methods, pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism, drug design and drug synthesis, spectroscopy and structural analysis, and research training projects. Some courses will cover the key techniques in analytical chemistry used to support the pharmaceutical sciences. The Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme is more involved with the pharmaceutical industry and research aspects than with a traditional pharmacist’s customer service and patient care responsibilities. The studies will provide a graduate with the professional skills to work in industrial companies that develop, produce, investigate and/or supply pharmaceutical products, or in research institutes, or to continue their studies in doctoral programmes in the fields of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Medical Sciences.

Why choose this programme?

  • The programme offers the unique blend of a deep fundamental knowledge of various aspects of chemistry and real-life insights from the pharma industry.
  • The chemistry-based education will ensure students are provided with a larger diversification of skills, ranging from drug manufacturing and analysis to regulatory affairs.

What comes after?

  • A graduate of Pharmaceutical Chemistry could choose to work in the private (biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies) and in public sectors (universities, research institutes, hospital laboratories), as well as in integrated study, science and business centres..
