The aim of the Natural Systems Management programme is to provide students with the latest theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of ecology, for the successful preservation and recovery of our natural and semi-natural ecosystems. Students learn to assess the balance of terrestrial ecosystems and to propose decisions enabling sustainability. They will develop competencies in relation to the use of inland waterways and terrestrial natural resources. This will include supplying ecological communities with the possibility to adapt to the changing climate and environmental conditions. Graduates of the programme will be able to organise and carry out research, and provide consultancies, in situations where the impact of globalisation on biological diversity and human health has to be evaluated and action is required in the area of ecology, in terms of practical applications and/or research.

Key Learning Outcomes

The programme is designed to deepen and develop the capacity of environmental professionals, to help them critically evaluate ecosystem management tools, to analyze the ecological and environmental complexity of system formation and implementation, to make ethical and socially responsible choices working with natural systems, to apply adequate assessment methods to operational ecology and related fields of science and practice. The graduate is able to create an original innovation, in accordance with the latest scientific theories of Applied Ecology focusing on the methods and technologies, to develop ideas, take responsible environmental decisions in order to deal effectively with complex conditions of natural systems and implement quality management, to evaluate the complexity of the situation and foresee and assess any possible threat to the environment as well as to cope with it.

Programme Specific Requirements

Completed university bachelor’s degree studies in economics, social geography, business, management, public administration, tourism and recreation, landscape architecture study fields of the life sciences, physical sciences, veterinary medicine, agriculture, engineering, technologies, health, sports, education study field group.

In addition, all applicants have to fulfill the general admission requirements.
