VU signed the MOU with the ICCR
Last week VU signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) providing for cooperation between Vilnius University and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (Indian Council for Cultural Relations – ICCR ), as well as academic exchanges. The document was signed by the VU Acting Rector professor Jūras Banys and Indian Ambassador Monika Kapil Mohta, headquartered in Warsaw.
Associated professor Valdas Jaskūnas, Director of the Centre of Oriental Studies, said that it took 10 years of consultations between the representatives of two countries until this MOU has been signed, breaking through the ice of academic cooperation.
The MOU opens up the cooperation between Lithuania and India through ICCR. Lithuanian and Indian students as well as researchers will be able to apply for various grants, part-time studies or research in both countries, universities will exchange visiting lecturers.
As an example of the urgent need in cooperation between the two countries is the fact that VU currently is looking for a modern Indian history and sociology professor to carry out research, organize international conferences, teaching etc.
