VU Shares its Science Potential with Leading Flemish UniversitiesFlemish delegation (Belgium) visited Vilnius University in the first fortnight of May. Prof. Artūras Žukauskas, VU Rector, together with prof. Danny Pieterse, Vice-rector of the Catholic University of Leuven and prof. Johan Meeusen, Vice-rector of the Antwerp University signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) at the Government Office. Documents aim to strengthen international cooperation of the Universities.

Flemish and Vilnius universities committed to the exchange of students, academic and administrative staff, they agreed to enhance scientific cooperation, hold joint seminars, lectures, courses and conferences, share research findings, develop joint scientific publications.

The Flemish delegation visited VU Laser Research Centre, a spin-off from VU Laser Research Centre – UAB “Light Conversion”, the company focusing on deep knowledge in the field of optical parametric generation and amplification. The delegation was also introduced to a new Joint Life Sciences Centre, enjoyed a unique architectural ensemble the Vilnius University.

Vilnius and Antwerp Universities belong to the Utrecht Network, a network of European universities, while together with the Catholic University of Leuven VU enjoys the membership in COIMBRA GOUP – an association of long-established European multidisciplinary universities.
