VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas Addresses the Community: I Encourage Those Who Have Not Been Vaccinated to Do so Without Delay
In order to carry out studies at Vilnius University (VU) in a contact manner from September, VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas addressed the community, reminding him of the important mission of the university – responsibility to society and the country.
“I am grateful for the rationality and leadership demonstrated so far. You actively get vaccinated, setting an example for the whole academic community and society. With your understanding and sincere efforts, we could start the upcoming academic year with a celebration and enjoy a full-fledged study process in our auditoriums”, – VU Rector said.
Prof. R. Petrauskas stresses that VU is now among the leading Lithuanian universities in terms of the number of immunized community members – 88.96 percent of employees in the organization have immunity. Those who have not yet been vaccinated, VU Rector urges to use the opportunity while country currently has enough vaccines and vaccination sites and to protect our loved ones, the university community, and ourselves this way.
“I invite Vilnius University lecturers, staff, and students to become vaccination ambassadors: spread science-based knowledge and encourage your loved ones, friends, and acquaintances who are skeptical to get vaccinated. Make sure their doubts are dispelled by the information and facts gathered through the careful work of fellow scientists. Your civic activism is needed now more than ever. I sincerely ask you not to be indifferent and use all available social connections, your authority, and pedagogical experience to help the vaccination process proceed so that we could face possible waves of new coronavirus strains under safer conditions”, – Prof. R. Petrauskas said.
