VU Rector Prof. R. Petrauskas Elected President of the Lithuanian University Rectors’ Conference
On Friday, Vilnius University (VU) Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas was elected President of the Lithuanian University Rectors’ Conference (LURK).
Prof. R. Petrauskas was elected to this position for one year at the General Meeting of LURK members.
“The Rectors’ Conference is an important collegial structure of Lithuanian higher education, an opportunity to discuss and coordinate issues common to universities – education policy, issues of university autonomy,” the VU Rector said.
LURK is an association of rectors from higher education institutions - universities. The Association coordinates relationships between rectors (directors) of high education institutions as well as their relationships with state government and administration institutions and municipal institutions.
LURK aims to promote Lithuanian scientific, educational, cultural and economic development, co-operation between higher education institutions and international networking as well as cooperation with governmental authorities and local self-government bodies.
Until now, the President of LURK was the Rector of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Prof. Eugenijus Valatka.
