VU Hosts an Event on Experiences and Challenges in the Research Assessment Process

53686787685 5786a2f4a9 kOn 11 June, Vilnius University (VU) will host a seminar-discussion on experiences and challenges in the research assessment process in the context of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) agreement. Eugénio Campos Ferreira, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at the University of Minho, Portugal, will share best practices during the event. The event is organised by the Science Administration Unit.

In November 2022, Vilnius University, aiming to respond to changes in the evaluation of research and signed the Coalition Agreement for Research Evaluation Reform. The main goal of this international agreement is to avoid the inappropriate use of quantitative evaluation metrics in the assessment of researchers' careers and research processes. The need to sign such an agreement arose in the light of global trends in the evolution of the research evaluation system: besides metrics, other activities such as expert work, leadership skills in scientific teams, project planning and execution abilities, science communication activities, socio-economic benefits of research, application of open science principles, and many others have become significant indicators.
