VU Faculty of Law Organizes a Remote Discussion “Russia’s Aggression against Ukraine from the Point of View of International Law”

Moreover, it is noted that it is not sufficiently effective or does not work, distinguishing the mechanisms of international peace and security of the United Nations Charter, the instruments of other international organizations, and the courts. But is that true?

VU Faculty of Law organizes an online discussion "Russia's aggression against Ukraine from the point of view of international law" on 1 March from 2 p.m. The debate participants – the Ambassadors of the Republic of Lithuania, researchers of Estonian and Ukrainian universities, and professors of Vilnius University International Law and International Relations – will discuss various ways and means of responding to Russia's aggression under international law.

  • Doc. dr. Yuliya Chernyk (Inland Norwegian University of Applied Sciences and University of Oslo (PluriCourts)).
  • Prof. dr. Dovilė Jakniūnaitė (Department of International Relations, Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University)
  • Doc. dr. Vygantė Milašiūtė (Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, Vilnius University)
  • Dr. Erika Leonaitė (VU Faculty of Law, Department of Public Law)
  • Dr. Inga Martinkutė (VU Faculty of Law, Department of Public Law)

Representatives from Ukraine are also expected to join the discussion. The discussion will be moderated by doc. Dr. Indrė Isokaitė-Valužė from the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, Vilnius University. The discussion will take place in Lithuanian and English. In addition, the discussion will be broadcast on the Youtube and Facebook accounts of the VU Faculty of Law. Therefore, you will be able to ask questions about these accounts.
