Vilnius University Medical Student won the Lithuanian FameLab 2014

Marius Polianskis, Vilnius University medical student won the science communication competition FameLab after he pitched successfully a complex idea on interaction of human body organs to the panel of judges within three minutes.

The national winner Marius Polianskis will join other finalists from 24 countries of the world for the international competition in Cheltenham (United Kingdom).

Vilija Musneckytė, one more postgraduate studentof the Vilnius University won the audience vote for her pitch on HIV virus and was awarded a TV Philips.

FameLab is an exciting competition aimed at inspiring and training scientists to communicate their work to the society. It aims to discover charismatic, up-and-coming scientists who inspire people to see the world from a new perspective – in just three minutes. Finalists come from across Europe, Asia and Africa who compete to be named as the most exciting, accessible and charismatic science communicator.

FameLab was set up in 2005 by Cheltenham Festivals in partnership with NESTA. Since then, FameLab has grown into the world's leading science communication competition. A partnership with the British Council since 2007 has seen the competition go global with more than 5000 young scientists and engineers participating in more than 25 different countries. In 2014 the FameLab finalists will come from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, UK, United States and many more countries.

Lithuania joined FameLab competition in 2011. Since then, four FameLab competitions have been organized in Lithuania by the British Council and Cheltenham Festivals.
