Vilnius University is gradually moving up in the quality ranking system. Photo by Edgaras KurauskasOn 16 September, QS World University Rankings announced the annual report „QS World University Rankings 2014/15"on the ranking results of the world universities.

Vilnius University improved its ranking by 50 spots this year and joined the group of 551-600. It is in the highest position among Lithuanian universities and among 4 percent of the best universities in the world.

Other three universities in Lithuania (Kaunas University of Technology, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Vytautas Magnus University) remain below the 701 position.

First compiled in 2004, the QS World University Rankings currently considers over 3,000 institutions, and ranks more than 800.
This year, the world's top three universities come as follows: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge University and Imperial College London.
