Vilnius University Holds a Stable Position Among the Region’s Top 20
In the QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) released this week, Vilnius University (VU) holds a stable position among the top 20 universities and is a leader among the ranked universities in Lithuania.
VU received 81 points out of 100 and is in the 18th place in the EECA rating this year. Comparing to last year’s standing, VU significantly improved its academic reputation and citation per paper indicators, the latter increasing by 3.9 points. VU’s highest scores are on international research network, academic reputation and employer reputation criteria.
This year, VU improved all research related indicators. The highest papers per faculty increase was in the field of Life Sciences and Medicine. Citations per paper increased by 37.8 percent in the field of Natural Sciences and 17.2 percent in the field of Life Sciences and Medicine.
EECA ranks Eastern and Central European and Central Asian universities. It uses the same methodology as the overall QS World University Ranking, however, adapts the weighting of indicators and includes new indicators such as staff with PhD numbers, university visibility online based on the Webometrics and citations per paper.
QS World University Rankings include academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per paper, international faculty and international student indicators. VU holds 458th place in the QS World University Rankings released in June 2019.
