The Third Coin from the Series of "Lithuanian Science" Dedicated to Physics

The third 5 euro coin from the series of "Lithuanian science" is dedicated to physics and will be introduced into circulation by the Bank of Lithuania on the 29th of March.

The reverse of the gold coin features a stylised laser beam as a symbol of laser physics, while the obverse features a stylised Vytis with light interference in the background.

 

At 11 a.m. a public presentation will take place in the recently opened National Centre of Physical and Technological Sciences (Saulėtekio al. 3, Vilnius), at the entrance to the CERN exhibition.

Vitas Vasiliauskas, the governor of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, Artūras Žukauskas, the Rector of the Vilnius University, Gintaras Valušis, the Director of the Physical and Technology Sciences Centre, other honorable guests as well as the authors of the coin will attend the event.

A total of 5000 coins were minted at the Lithuanian Mint UAB and will be available for acquisition at the cash offices of the Bank of Lithuania from their date of issue.

This is the third coin in the series of "Lithuanian science". The first one was released in 2012 and was dedicated to the achievements of Lithuanian cardiac surgery, while the second coin was dedicated to Baltic linguistics and was issued in 2014.
