The journal “Informatics in Education” that she edits is published by the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies of VU FMI and has been ranked in the first quartile (Q1) of Clarivate’s “Web of Science/Journal Citation Reports”.

“Twenty-two years have passed since the first issue of “Informatics in Education” was published. We then anticipated the challenges of establishing ourselves in a competitive field. Today, our strong progress and positioning are confirmed by our impressive Impact Factor and CiteScore rankings. None of this would be possible without the dedicated work of our editorial board members, diligent reviewers, and talented authors – our whole dedicated team,” says Prof. Valentina Dagienė, Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Informatics in Education”. The high level of contribution provided by the employees of the FMI Institute for Data Science and Digital Technologies is particularly noteworthy: Prof. Olga Kurasova, Co-Editor of “Informatics in Education”, along with the journal’s Executive Editor Dr Gabrielė Stupurienė, and Technical Editor Tatiana Golobovskaja.

The first volume of “Informatics in Education” by Prof. V. Dagienė was prepared in 2002. “I wanted Lithuanian informatics education, especially research, to be prominent worldwide. I would set a goal and work towards it: I would work, initiate different activities, and try to learn from informatics science groups in different countries. An idea was born – we need an international magazine. A good example was the establishment of the journal “Informatica”. I observed, talked through the idea, and received particularly good advice from the academic Jonas Mockus, and looked for like-minded people abroad,” Editor-in-Chief Prof. Valentina Dagienė recounts how the journal was born.

The biggest secret to the researcher’s success was patience, passion, drive, and a strong desire to see her country’s researchers among the best in the world. Prof. V. Dagienė is pleased that the main cover of “Informatics in Education” features the logo of Vilnius University: “I am part of this university, so I can be proud on behalf of the university that we are able to build networks of researchers, and to establish and foster the growth of prestigious journals.” According to the Editor-in-Chief of “Informatics in Education”, the journal is not just a collection of articles published several times a year. Its core mission is to bring together a network of enthusiastic researchers and experts. The editorial board of “Informatics in Education” comprises researchers, advisors, and teams of young researchers from more than 30 countries.
