The Global Astronomical Conference will be Held in LithuaniaThe biggest ever in Lithuania international astronomical conference will be held on 1-4 December 2015 in Vilnius. Astronomers from Australia, Brazil, Chile, USA and Europe are coming to this significant gathering. Dr Timo Prusti, Gerry Gilmore, Sofia Randich and many other outstanding astronomers will share their findings and insights during the 4-day event in Lithuania. VU Professor Gražina Tautvaišienė leads the Lithuanian team of researchers and conference organizers.

During Gaia-ESO Survey Third Science Meeting (GES2015) new results from four internal data releases will be presented and discussed. This will be a good opportunity to meet and discuss the progress, the methodological and scientific challenges and future directions of GES and similar Galactic surveys. The scientists not involved in GES are being encouraged to take part and share their experience also. Different topics, such as Galactic Discs and Halo, Bulge and Inner Galaxy, Chemo-dynamical modelling, Stellar Clusters: formation and evolution, Chemical Tagging, Stellar Evolution and others will be covered.

The Gaia-ESO Survey consortium connects over 300 astronomers from the major European science institutions. They joined for the Gaia-ESO Survey, which is a public spectroscopic survey that is obtaining medium and high resolution spectra of more than 100 000 Galactic stars. Observations are conducted at the Paranal Observatory, Chile. Stars from all major Galactic components and from a large sample of open clusters are being observed.
