The future of earth minerals is trusted to young experts
The 8th international forum-competition "The Problems of Mineral Exploitation" took place in the National Mineral Resources University (Mining University), St. Petersburg. There were the participants of more than 70 universities from 21 countries. Among them, there were Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, Vienna University of Technology, The University of Western Ontario and many others.
The Vilnius University was represented at the conference as well.
In the category "Best Student" in the section "Geology" Vaida Kirkliauskaitė won the third place with the report "Manifestation of alkaline magmatism and related mineralization in the crystalline basement of Southern Lithuania".
The forum was divided into 9 sections: geology, the problems of exploration and development of oil and gas fields, the problems of mining ore and nonmetallic minerals, geodesy, geomechanics and underground construction, electrical engineering and mining equipment, metallurgy, physical and chemical features of technological processes, economics and management, environmental engineering and nanotechnology and information technologies. The winners in each field were identified in two categories: "The Best Student" and "The Best Postgraduate Student and Young Scientist."
But the most important result that in any country of the world there is a winner's certificate as a seal of quality for young professionals entering the industry, and for those who chose a research career.
