The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain Visits Vilnius University
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr Pau Mari-Klose, visited Vilnius University on Wednesday, where he met VU rector prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas.
During the visit, the guest visited VU's old architectural ensemble and VU's library, where he viewed exceptional heritage objects that connect Lithuania and Spain. The works of the famous Spanish lawyer Petras Roizijus who worked in Vilnius, the piece of Spanish humanist J.L.Vives stored in the Žygimantas Augustas' Library, and manuscripts reflecting the activities of VU rectors of Spanish origin.
Furthermore, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee gave a lecture, "European Union Southern and Eastern Neighborhoods in Turbulent Times," in the Winter Garden of the Library of the VU Institute of International Relations and Political Sciences. Spanish views and assessments".
Mr Pau Mari-Klose has chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies since February 2020. Before being elected as an MP for the Spanish Socialist party, he served as High Commissioner against Child Poverty of the Spanish Government in 2018-2019 and was a scholar in several universities and research institutions (2000-2018).
As a scholar, he taught Sociology at the University of Zaragoza (2012-2018), where he is an Associate Professor (on leave), and had been a postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Centre in Madrid (2010-2012) and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Childhood and the Urban World (2005-2010).
He holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago, and a Master in Social Sciences from the Centre for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (Juan March Institute).
