Public lecture by Dr. Filippo Menga
Public lecture "Soft Power and Hegemony Theories" will be delivered by Dr. Filippo Menga on 12 December, 2014 at 17.30 PM in Vilnius University, J. Kovalevskis Auditorium (Main building, Faculty of Philology) Universiteto st. 3.
Filippo Menga, a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Cagliari, the former visiting researcher at St Andrews University and King's College London, while a visiting fellow at Tallinn University lately.
This lecture will provide an overview of the notions of power and hegemony in International Relations, illustrating the correlation of these concepts. The focus will then move to the "circle of hegemony", an analytical framework in which the various forms of power are "connective" in the function of hegemony. Examples from the case of Central Asia will be used to illustrate the theory.
The lecture is organized by the Centre of Oriental Studies of Vilnius University.
