Professor Egidijus Šileikis Has Been Appointed a Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania
On Thursday, the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda signed a decree on the appointment of Professor Egidijus Šileikis (HP) of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University (VU TF) as a judge, and the judge took the oath.
The Head of State expressed his delight that the judge would join the ranks of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania. According to the President, the judge's extensive scientific, pedagogical and practical experience in the application of the law, accumulated knowledge and critical thinking will bring great added value to the Court's activities.
The President wished the judge wisdom, patience and the best of luck in his work and to achieve even greater career heights in the future.
By Presidential Decree, Professor Egidijus Šileikis has been appointed a Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania.
E. Šileikis received his Doctor of Law degree from the University of Frankfurt am Main (Germany) in 1994. From 1994 to 1997 he worked at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University as an assistant, senior assistant, and then became Vice-Dean of the Faculty. Since 1996, Šileikis also worked as an advisor to the Legal Division of the Office of the Seimas, and since 1998 – as an advisor on public administration to the Office of the Government. From 2002 to 2005 Šileikis was an associate professor at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, and since 2005 a professor. He served as a Judge of the Constitutional Court from 2008 to 2017.
Professor Šileikis is the author of numerous books and articles on constitutional, public and administrative law, among other topics. He is also a member of the editorial boards of the publications "Law. Scientific Works" and "Constitutional Jurisprudence".
