Prof. V. Pakalniškienė Appointed Pro-Rector for Organisation Development and Community Affairs at Vilnius University
A new member joins the team of the Rector of Vilnius University (VU). Prof. Vilmantė Pakalniškienė has been appointed as the Pro-Rector for Organisation Development and Community Affairs. She will take up the post on 1 December 2022.
"Jonathan Sacks' book "Morality" has a very good idea about what a university should be. It is a safe space where people speak politely, argue rationally and listen respectfully. So I would like this idea to accompany me in this position, not to be forgotten, and to be reflected in my future work", says Prof. Pakalniškienė.
Prof. Pakalniškienė graduated from Vilnius University in 2000 with a degree in clinical psychology. After her studies, she worked as a psychologist at the Republican Vilnius Psychiatric Hospital and the Mental Health Centre of Širvintos District. She then continued her studies at Örebro University in Sweden, where she obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2008.
Prof. Pakalniškienė has been working at Vilnius University since 2008, and as a professor since 2022. She teaches undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students in psychology and supervises research projects. Prof. Pakalniškienė was the Chair of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Psychology, is a member of the Doctoral Degree Programme Committee in Psychology, and is the Chair of the Council of the Faculty of Philosophy.
