Physicists from All over the World Gather at the International Conference in Vilnius

Sukurta: 27 June 2022

Fizikų konferencijaFrom 27 June to 1 July, Vilnius will host the 14th European Conference on Atoms, Molecules, and Photons (ECAMP’14,  www.ecamp14.org), bringing several hundred scientists from around the world to the Lithuanian capital. The conference will discuss various aspects of atoms, molecules, and optical physics, and share key research in physics. This is the largest conference of its kind in Europe. This year, the honor of hosting the conference went to the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University (VU) and the Lithuanian Physical Society.

“The fact that Vilnius was chosen as this year’s conference location is a sign of recognition for Lithuanian physicists. VU has a long-standing tradition of studying atoms, molecules, and the interaction of radiation with matter. The achievements of Vilnius scientists, which include both the traditional theory of atoms (Professor Adolfas Jucys’s school) and very cold atoms, are well known worldwide. Besides, we have a strong community of physicists conducting unique fundamental research in nonlinear optics, molecular spectroscopy, optoelectronics, photonics, nanotechnology, and more. Lithuanian laser physics and technology research is well known worldwide, started by Algis Piskarskas, a professor at Vilnius University who recently passed away. ECAMP'14 conference will help Lithuanian physicists establish and strengthen contacts with colleagues from all over the world,” Distinguished Professor of VU Faculty of Physics Gediminas Juzeliūnas, the key organizer of the event, discussed the conference.

Well-known scientists from Lithuania, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Japan, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Spain, France, and other countries will present the latest research and significant achievements in the field of physical sciences.

The ECAMP is a prestigious tri-annual conference for physicists that started in 1981 and takes place in different European cities. The last conferences were held in 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany, and in 2019 in Florence, Italy. This year’s conference will take place in Vilnius, at the Radisson Blu Lietuva Hotel (Konstitucijos pr. 20).
