Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vilnius University Signed a Cooperation Agreement
On 20 December, the Chancellor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Inga Černiuk visited Vilnius University (VU). During the meeting with VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, the Chancellor signed a cooperation agreement aimed at more active collaboration between the university academic community and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the implementation of Lithuanian foreign policy.
"Vilnius University actively participates in the life of the country and contributes to significant projects, one of which is the preparation of the Strategy "Lithuania 2050". The Strategy and this cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are excellent examples of interdisciplinary and long-term cooperation, which allows to apply the available knowledge in achieving common goals,” says VU Rector Prof. Petrauskas.
By implementing the agreement between the Vilnius University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the aim is to cooperate in organising joint projects, programmes and other measures focused on the formation of foreign policy and the efficiency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Study programs related to political science will also be improved, enabling students to do internships at the Ministry, and cooperation between scholars will be encouraged by providing specialist assistance and recommendations on international policy-making issues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also contribute to the organisation of student exchange visits, lectures and discussions at scientific conferences at VU, provide more convenient information in preparing final theses on foreign policy topics, will invite VU scholars to participate in competitions to conduct research and provide consultations, will carry out cooperation and other mutually beneficial activities.
