LUMINA Park Returns to the VU Botanical Garden - Visitors Will Be Greeted by Alice in Wonder Garden
On October 20th at 6:30 PM, a celebration of the opening of the LUMINA light installations park will take place at the Botanical Garden of Vilnius University (VU). This year, visitors are invited to discover a magical and enchanting light installation park inspired by Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". The exhibition features original works created by Lithuanian and Polish artists. The LUMINA Park at the VU Botanical Garden is operating for its second season.
During the cold autumn and winter seasons, visitors of the VU Botanical Garden can expect not only a new thematic story and new light installations but also a transformed path within the LUMINA park at the VU Botanical Garden. Visitors to LUMINA park will experience a multitude of new impressions, discover new and perhaps previously unseen garden spaces, and even see familiar ones in a different light.
Three light installations by artists will be presented to visitors: Agnė Kišonaitė's "Cheshire Cat", Kotryna Čalkaitė's "Plantae magica", and Jarosław Koziara's "Tulips".
"In autumn and winter, everyone longs for more warmth and cosiness, so this year, we invite you to immerse yourself in the experience by visiting the new LUMINA light and sound installation We are delighted that visitors will see impressive light installations created by Lithuanian and Polish artists. The VU Botanical Garden remains open to visitors all year round, and during the dark hours – starting from October 20th – we will open the gates to Alice in Wonder Garden light installations," says Audrius Skridaila, director of the VU Botanical Garden.
"We believe that the return of the LUMINA light installation park to the VU Botanical Garden will once again become a popular attraction for the city's residents and guests. The first season of the LUMINA Park showed that we did not make a mistake by offering such entertainment. We are pleased that this year, the LUMINA Park's return to the VU Botanical Garden will provide visitors with an opportunity to spend dark autumn and winter evenings in a magical event filled with lights, sounds, and enchantment – to walk in Alice's Wonder Garden. As in previous years, we will introduce visitors not only to thematic light installations but also to works of art by the artists, which will undoubtedly adorn the garden," says Jan Szagdaj, the head of LUMINA Park in Poland.
Just like last year, visitors walking along the path within the VU Botanical Garden's park will be able to stop and purchase snacks, and hot, and cold beverages. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase LUMINA Park postcards. The project organizers collaborate with the Lithuanian Red Cross, and a portion of the profits from the postcard sales will be donated to this organization.
