LituanicaSAT-1 satellite launch tomorrow
NASA finally announced that Vilnius University satellite LituanicaSAT-1 is ready to be launched into space. It will happen tomorrow, on January 8 at 20.32 Lithuanian time. The last checks and preparation activities are being carried on at the moment.
LituanicaSAT-1 will be launched into orbit around the Earth together with other five nano-satellites. According to the director of this mission Vytenis Buzas, the first life functions of LituanicaSAT-1 will be turned on, antennas will spread automatically and the first Lithuanian words will be transmitted from space to Earth by Morse code only after half an hour in orbit.
The team of more than 30 professionals is working with LituanicaSAT-1. The satellite will carry out investigations of space, check Lithuanian technologies and test alternative energy recourses under extreme conditions.
